Ludmilla the diesel locomotive
Her name is Ludmilla. She's soviet-build heavy diesel traction locomotive operated in the former East-Germany (DDR) with code name DR 132. Ludmilla is not fast but she's heavy, making her ideal for freight trains. More than 700 locomotives of this type were constructed. wikipedia
Ludmilla is also available in G-gauge model train by German brand PIKO. This web page is about heavily modified version of Ludmilla with full custom power and control system. Hereafter 'Ludmilla' refers to this customised version.

Signalling
Ludmilla imitates the real operation with visual railway signal system. There's optical detector in the drivers cabin of the locomotice watching signal lights the same way as the operator does. Railway tracks provide power only but no control signal. Onboard Wifi is used for monitoring and development purposes only, not to control the locomotive itself.
